The Permits Foundation

Gill Gordon is Chair of The Permits Foundation, an independent, not-for-profit organisation campaigning globally to improve work permit regulations to make it easier for partners of mobile employees to gain employment during an international assignment. Since its start-up in 2001, The Permits Foundation has been progressively successful in influencing change throughout the European Union as well as in the USA, Brazil, Peru and Asia (Hong Kong, India, Japan and Malaysia). Around 35 countries now allow accompanying spouses or partners to work. The organisation continues to promote best practice and monitor legislative improvements in all these countries as well as setting up new projects (for example, in South Africa and Ireland) in its global campaign. Gill previously spent most of her career at Schlumberger, where she held a number of senior HR roles including around 12 years in international assignments.
